Premier Ford does not represent the people of Ontario

    Dear Prime Minister,

This letter is being delivered without political agenda. It is being delivered with the concern that someone is advocating on our behalf without our permission.

According to many of Doug Ford’s speeches, he has “listened to the people” and he knows “what the people want”. We represent a large number of Ontarians who have not been listened to, and are therefore not being appropriately represented by our government.

Most Ontarians who voted in the last provincial election did not vote for Mr. Ford (60%), yet he feigns to speak on everyone's behalf.

There have been many accounts recently where Mr. Ford has begun claims with “The people of Ontario…” and finished with statements that a large portion of Ontarians disagree with. He has also shown a consistent pattern of ignoring segments of the population when they disagree with him. This includes attempts to use drastic measures to force his government’s agenda.

It is the mandate of a political leader to represent their jurisdiction, including those who did not support them in an election. Many of the great leaders we’ve had in this country have respected this regardless of their political affiliation.

This letter is to request your government’s acknowledgement that Mr. Ford does not have our permission to advocate on our behalf. We implore that this is taken into consideration when making federal decisions that directly affect all Ontarians, especially those in the population who are under-represented.
