Clean Water for Bridge City! Our kids deserve to not have their health jeopardized.

For over a decade the City of Bridge City Texas has been suffering from poor quality water. Our families our suffering. Some places in town have water running out of the tap dark brown. "...The TTHM violation is serious... not minor. The color is related to high levels of iron and manganese... but at these levels it can be toxic. For example: Excess manganese interferes with the absorption of dietary iron. Long-term exposure to excess levels may result in iron-deficiency anemia. Increased manganese intake impairs the activity of copper metallo-enzymes. Manganese overload is generally due to industrial pollution. Workers in the manganese processing industry are most at risk. Well water rich in manganese can be the cause of excessive manganese intake and can increase bacterial growth in water. Manganese poisoning has been found among workers in the battery manufacturing industry. Symptoms of toxicity mimic those of Parkinson's disease (tremors, stiff muscles) and excessive manganese intake can cause hypertension in patients older than 40. Significant rises in manganese concentrations have been found in patients with severe hepatitis and posthepatic cirrhosis, in dialysis patients and in patients suffering heart attacks. Update #17 years ago
Erin Brockavich is now working to help us! Our water issue is of serious health concern. In July we received a letter stating the Texas Commision of Environmental Quality found levels exceeding what is considered acceptable. They later refused to return any calls from Erin Brockavich's office. The city at the moment is also not accepting their free help to remedy our water issue! We need your help!
