Dear President Donald J. Trump:
Each day 23,000,000 children in America are growing up without a biological parent. Every child deserves the love and support of both parents, yet our government is interfering with Parental Rights of fit parents each and every day. Shared legal and physical custody (50/50) must become the standard, not the exception, as statistics show children growing up without a biological parent are 85% more likely to exhibit serious behavioral disorders. How can this happen in America?
Our leaders in government have cast layers of legislation on child welfare for over 50 years. The result of the system of federal funding that rewards state agencies financially for removing a biological parent from a child’s life is causing major crisis in this country. These agencies are now overwhelmed by the force of our state courts who are profiting off our children. The state agencies refuse to make changes because they are depending on the federal funds that pay them to remove a biological parent from a child’s life. Custody disputes represent the most profitable area of family law. States are profiting from The Social Security Act (Title IV-D & IV-E) where federal incentives drive the system. The more divorces, the higher child support guidelines are set and enforced (no matter how unreasonable), and the more money the state bureaucracy collects from the feds. The less time that the non-custodial parent is permitted to be with their child(ren), the more “performance based” child support they must pay into the state fund and the higher the federal bonus to that state for collecting the money. Typically, for each one dollar collected in child support, one dollar is released from Social Security coffers that can then be given back to the U.S. states. Additionally, Bill Clinton’s Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 put a price on every head of every child to either take children from their parents or socially engineer their future by removing one parent from the child’s life. The Bradley Amendment mandates a child support debt cannot be retroactively reduced or forgiven, even if the debtor is unemployed, hospitalized, sent to war, dead, proved to not be the father, never allowed to see his children or loses his job/suffers a pay cut. This rigid law imposes punishment including debtor’s prison, house arrest, and loss of driver’s license on low/middle income parents; where the very rich get out from under a Bradley debt. Please stop Title IV-D & IV-E funding, and repeal the Bradley Amendment and Adoption & Safe Families Act NOW!
Please execute an Executive Order which prohibits our families from further harm! The government must be banned from interfering in parental rights of fit parents. Thousands of voters on social media who are suffering from the trauma of family destruction have supported you in this election. This is against humanity and constitutional right of familial integrity. Our children are NOT for sale and there are many professional experts who can educate you on these draconian laws: Restoring Freedom, The Father’s Rights Movement, Fix Family Courts, Caught Red Handed, Dr. Craig Childress, and Family Forward Project just to name a few.
