Chocolate lab shot by city police FOR NO REASON

My name is Tiffany and I am the owner of a chocolate lab named Remington. We have had Remington since he was 5 weeks old and he is now over 3 years old. He is our best friend, one of our family members and is a loyal and loving lab. Sadly, Remington was shot by one of our local Marinette Police Department officers for coming to greet him. Remington luckily survived and will have a bullet in him the rest of his life along with a blown ear drum and nerve damage. The Marinette City Police Department told the Veterinarian that Remington was taken to, to bill everything to their department. As we got Remington to trauma center the lieutenant calls and informs us that they will not pay a dime of any medical bills. Because of this, Remington was sent home with a bullet in him and a blown ear drum. We are a family made of love, not thick wallets so we started a go fund me page to help with all Remington’s costs and are trying to get a law passed we want to call, “REMINGTON’S LAW”. This law would require all officers to get proper and acceptable training when dealing with domesticated animals (pets). With officers having proper training along with enforcing officers to no longer be allowed to use guns against domesticated animals should stop all the senseless “shoot now, think later” that has been happening all over the U.S. in alarming numbers. Officers would be required to carry a can of special grade “mace” along with a Taser at all times that they can use on a domesticated animal if the animal is showing aggression. These methods alone should stop the animal in its tracks and allow the officer enough time to get away. Officers have misjudged the actions of someone’s pet too many times and because of this, pet owners have had to watch their pet suffer and/or die because an officer felt the animal might attack him/her. Sadly, some people do have a fear of animals in general and yes, some of those people do make it into law enforcement. It is truly hard to see my loyal and loving Remington suffer every day. To know he did nothing to warrant the shooting and suffering only because an officer had a fear of animals or just dislikes them. What makes this situation so much worse is the Police Officer and the Police Department both LIED AND TWISTED the recounts of the incident. You will see in the dash cam footage that (even though it is hard to see) Remington never jumped on the Officer and was never where the Officer said Remington was when he shot him.
