My husband Michael Almeida was charged with 1st degree criminal contempt for breaking an order of protection. He was sentenced to prison time and he was giving a sixteen year, order of protection. The order is against his legal wife and his children. What right does anyone have to take someones family away for that amount of time. The order is on a child who is only four and will be 20 years old when it is all said and done. My husband did not beat me, he never hurt our children, they used him as an example. Yes he broke an order but they fail to realize he had a traumatic brain injury and me and our kids were all he knows. I did everything for him for survival. Yes I got angry at him for his drinking which he turned to for self medication, I did tell him to leave and yes he did come back numerous times intoxicated. Well now he is sober and he has completed programs and he realizes that he was wasting his life by drinking and he wants to come home and be the father and husband he was for many years. But the courts have told him to stay away for 16 years, I need your help please sign my petition to tell Judge Teresi the sentence does'nt fit the crime. Drop the order of protection so we can be a family so my kids have a chance at a stable home. My four year old cries for him on a daily basis, my husband was the main provider I worked while he was home with he kids. Please help us become a family again.
Dear Honorble Judge Teresi,
I am starting a petition because you sentenced my husband to prison time and on top of it you gave him a sixteen year order of protection. his family is all he has his kids love and adore him and that is inhuman to do. His crimes do not fit your sentence, he did'nt physically abuse his children, he did not do anything to his chidren so the order is a little over the top. I have done some research and I know that five year orders are usually giving in the most extreme cases. You used my husband as an example and it is not fair to him or my children. You did'nt know all the facts to the case, no mention of a brain injury was presented that he depended on his legal wife for everyday activities. No mention that he was under the influence when all of these occurances happened. I asked for the court to send him to rehab not incarceration my voice was never heard. I want my voice heard now and I am asking everyone to sign this petition to be able to go to Judge Teresi and ask him to drop the order of protection so we can be a family. My husband has taken programs and he has made the best of his time. Please Your Honor have a heart and let us give our family a second chance.
