Expand Medicaid In Racine County

  • by: Fast 4 Fairness

We, the undersigned, believe access to affordable health care is a basic human right and presented with the opportunity to expand access to health care for the most needy, we are called to act. Under the Affordable Care Act, individual states were given the opportunity to expand Medicaid programs with 100% of funding provided for the first 3 years. Such an expansion would impact the lives of over 100,000 low income residents in the state of Wisconsin.

Governor Scott Walker declined to participate in the expansion and devised his own plan which covers fewer people at a much higher cost and will remove nearly 80,000 people from Medicaid on April 1, 2014.

We call on Scott Walker to reconsider his decision and extend Medicaid for our state's low income residents. We call on the Racine County Board of Supervisors to request a full Medicaid expansion or the $96,620,000 in federal funds available to Racine County in lieu of a statewide expansion.
