Hello, my name is Joshua Fernandez Sr. I am starting this petition to protect children and people of the community around The Peter Pan Park area.
On the morning of January 16, 2014, the body of a Lincoln man, Jarvis Long, was found stabbed to death in Peter Pan Park. Jarvis Long was a long time friend of mine since child hood. As kids we and the neighbor hood children ran and played in Peter Pan Park. We were often mistaken as brothers. As kids we often talked about how to make the world a better place. I never thought that my child hood friend would be the victim of a vicious murder in the Park that we often played at. Police or still looking for answers with no suspects.

An arrest has been made.
Neighbors had said drugs and crime aren't new to the park. Despite being saddened by the news, they say they're not surprised. There were two reported robberies, nine assualts, and 68 police calls to the park including one on a police officer 2013. Currently there is no proper lighting at Peter Pan Park. With appropriate proper lighting in the park the crime rate will lower. Also other methods of crime prevention.

The "Make a change" petition has successfully met its goal in getting attention from Parks in Rec, which is in contact with L.E.S in a community walk and talk and looked at places in the park we willl have lights.
I suggest we install a couple of emergency telephones in the park as well as a idea of another possibility. If we pass this petition it will help protect children and people of the community.

Update,
The "Make a change" petition has successfully met its goal. The petition has got enough signatures and attention from the media and news coverage. As a result the Director of Parks in Rec, and L.E.S set up a community walk and talk meeting on February 20th 2014 and looked at places in the park we willl have lights adjusted.
As I learn I will let you know the out come regarding lights in Peter Pan Park.
