UNIVERSAL CREDIT AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER!!! END IT NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!

Initially the brainchild of former works and pension’s Secretary Ian Duncan Smith after one visit to a dilapidated housing estate in Glasgow back in 2002 Mr Duncan Smith then manifested his hair brained scheme in bowels of The Centre for Social Justice along with former peer Lord Feud.
The primary purpose of Universal Credit was to simplify the state system with one long 52 page online form, a job centre based interview, a mirage of paperwork submittance, your last 6 months’ worth of payslips, to be added to the new all singing all dancing computer system manually. Universal Credit would amalgamate 6 previous benefits JSA, ESA, CTC, WTC and Housing benefit into one Universal gold standard of benefits. The idea behind it to taper benefit reduction gradually to the claimant until no benefit was necessary.
At its conceptual stage and on paper the idea for Universal Credit seemed to make perfect logical sense. Our social security system had become a long complexity of form filling for each individual benefit with little to no incentive to come off those benefits as taking up work meant losing the lot.
From its conception and even before implementation the National Audit Office warning Universal Credit suffered from “Weak management, ineffective control and poor governance.”, Despite all of this, Government ploughed on happily in their own La La Land.
All attempts of advice fell on deaf ears, and DWP rolled out the pet project initially to jobless single claimants in a former mill town Ashton Under-Lyne in 2013. Now claimants such as Melvin former cotton mill worker, never been out of work, no pension, manual labourer, no formal qualifications, non-existent IT skills and riddled with arthritis in both hands; suffered at the hands of this cruel conceptual catastrophe. Melvin, exactly the sort of claimant likely to be pushed through the Universal Credit cracks (through an endless minefield of sanctions and 35hr a week job search criteria) in the new digital by default systems discorded designed by discourteous former Ministers and high ranking peers.
Since then DWP then sort to absolve themselves by a repetition of the same rhetoric “UC helps people back to work and helps them to stay in work longer” and “UC is changing peoples’ lives.” yes this may be so, but for the better? The detriment of everything else in the equation its crystal clear but not to Government; things such as having enough money to live on, quality time with your children, job security, savings, heat, eating and a roof over your head because the end result is a big proverbial stick to whack you with to force you to take work that does not pay and does not maintain your living standards.
You’re ability to choose has now been eroded to such a level that unless you are lucky enough to be in a good job with savings to fall back on in the event of unforeseen job loss your life now belongs to the state; to beat you with the proverbial stick that your situation is your own fault, and until you can immobilise yourself into a position to get away every waking moment belongs to them.
Ill leaves you with a thought from a claimant
“Universal Credit is like swimming through shark infested waters, with barbwire wrapped around your neck, with only a sock to cover your private parts”. Universal Credit a good moral concept, a monumental catastrophe

My proposal would be to move back to the old benefits system until this scheme can be administered in such a way that it ACTUALLY DOES MAKE WORK PAY!!!
