Vote "No." Stop Massive NYC Zoning Changes Opposed by the Majority of People of NYC

The controversial zoning measures proposed by Mayor DeBlasio, ZQA and MIH are set to be passed March 22 by NYC City Council.

The passage is in defiance of the majority of residents, with the majority of 50 of 59 community boards voting, “no,” and all five borough presidents.

The changes would be sweeping and permanent and will add thousands of highrises and millons of people inside a Trojan horse of "Affordable Housing," on a inadequate infrastructure with no plans to fix, and the billions to pay for the resulting overcrowded NYC will fall on the taxpayer. (Let's take those billions and build beautiful affordable housing further out in areas where they are asking for it.)

And as we have seen past zoning amendments, the results are much more luxury housing, higher rents, displacement of residents and businesses, and more density.

Big media has been oddly silent with most news provided by blogs.

Please ADDRESS NOW insufficient public transit, schools, parks, sewers and parking.

Dear Councilmembers of New York City,

We the undersigned, thank you to all who will vote "no" to the sweeping zoning amendments, ZQA and MIH.

As for the rest, we ask you to change your mind today to save your city. The stewardship you took on when you took office is at stake. There will be no recovering from the sweeping changes if you and a majority of your fellow councilmembers agree, and the city's over development will have been on your watch.

Lost in the lists of concessions to big real estate is that WE DO NOT NEED TO MAKE CONCESSIONS TO BIG REAL ESTATE.

You are our leaders. We do not need thousands of more buildings and millions of more people. We need a vision to spend our money to create affordable housing in ways that respect their needs. A land grab of epic proportions is taking place and you are allowing it. We need our parks, schools, sewers, hospitals, LESS DENSITY and public transit that actually works.

Thank you. PLEASE VOTE NO

No to ZQA & MIH Committee
