Let's get "Blood, Sweat & Tears" by BTS on the radio!

  • by: A.R.M.Y (fans of BTS)
  • recipient: iHeartMedia, iHeartRadio, 102.7 KIIS FM LA, Z100 NY, KISS 108 Boston, Hot 99.5 D.C., 106.1 Kiss FM Dallas-Fort Worth, and 103.5 KISS-FM Chicago, United States

BTS is back again! All seven members--leader Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook--have worked tirelessly to perfect and show their colors individually and as a unit; and on October 10, 2016 they gifted us with their beautiful, second full-length album for us to listen and enjoy entitled Wings. As A.R.M.Y (fans of BTS), we have rejoiced, cried, danced, and absorbed each track since its release, learning more about our favorite boy group BTS.

BTS, 방탄소년단 (Bangtan Boys or “bulletproof boy scouts” in Korean), debuted in 2013, and has taken over the world and Billboard charts with The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1 and Part 2, Young Forever, and now with their latest hit album Wings. Wings has charted at No. 26 on Billboard Album 200 Chart, No. 1 on World Albums chart, No. 1 in Top 50 social chart, No. 19 on the Canadian Albums Chart--notably, BTS is the first Korean act to enter UK’s top album chart at No. 62, and the list goes on. With all these achievements BTS has had in just less than two weeks, we have yet to hear their latest hit single “Blood Sweat and Tears” on the radio. Several media outlets like Billboard and Fuse have reported on them, and even iHeartRadio tweeted about their comeback. 4 million listens on Spotify for a song with a music video breaking records and expectations, yet it is not getting any plays on the radio.

Let’s get rid of the stereotypes of “K-Pop.” It’s not all about dance crazes or comedic slapstick music videos. Let’s tell the world that K-Pop music encompasses different facets of entertainment and music that appeal to Western sensibilities. BTS is also one of the many acts in South Korea who touches people through their music based on awarenesses of socials issues such as calling for justice in the education system, speaking about their own personal struggles with mental illnesses, advocating for women empowerment, expressing everyday frustrations that many teens and young adults face, and so on.

Making their music available on the radio will help BTS get recognized by the world. So c'mon A.R.M.Y, it takes less than a minute to sign this petition to get them on radio stations that stream internationally! This is open to everyone around the world to sign. This song has mass appeal and an “It Factor.” Anyone can fall in love and appreciate their music, if receiving praises via YouTube reactions by popular channels is any sign. It's not a question of IF their music would get played, but WHEN it will get played. The only "IF" is IF enough A.R.M.Y would sign this petition. So EVERYONE--no matter age, location, gender, and so forth--should go ahead and sign, then spread this far and wide. "Blood, Sweat, & Tears" getting radio plays and rotations on radio stations that stream INTERNATIONALLY can lead to a massive domino effect of more exposure including millions more YouTube views, interests and more coverage from the general public and music community, and A PLACE AND A METEORIC RISE on the Billboard charts. Let’s prove to BTS we are a strong A.R.M.Y coming together for an epic cause. Let’s silence the naysayers who discredit their hard work and accomplishments and think these seven, amazingly talented men can’t break through further in Western countries. We know for a fact how popular they are, and it’s time for everyone to know!

PLEASE DO THIS, A.R.M.Y! Sign the petition and share it with everyone.

Dear iHeartMedia, iHeartRadio, 102.7 KIIS FM LA, Z100 NY, KISS 108 Boston, Hot 99.5 D.C., 106.1 KISS-FM Dallas-Fort Worth, and 103.5 KISS-FM Chicago:

We would love the inclusion of 방탄소년단 (Bangtan Boys or “bulletproof boy scouts” in Korean), better known as BTS, on iHeartradio music stations. They have many fans around the world including the US, Central America, South America, United Kingdom, France, Australia, and many other locations. They have headlined KCON in New York and Los Angeles this year; and this past week, the seven member, South Korean boy group has charted with their latest album release entitled Wings on the US Billboard Charts including the Billboard 200 Album at No. 26, Social 50 at No. 1, and World Album Charts at No. 1. It is also worth noting they entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 62, a first for any Korean act. In the first 24 hours of their album’s release Wings (12 AM KST on October 10, 2016), it charted at No. 1 on 27 different iTunes Album Charts in countries such as Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Laos, Latvia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United States, and Vietnam.

The song and its music video for "Blood, Sweat, & Tears" has garnered a lot of praise from Billboard (1a., b.c.d., e.), Fuse (2.), and other international media for its high production, storytelling, and aesthetic. Even iHeartradio posted a tweet to their official Twitter account, hotly anticipating the track (3.a.). It has, of right now, hundreds of video reactions where people are praising “Blood, Sweat, & Tears” for its visuals and musicality, non-Kpop and Kpop fans respectively. BTS right now is being dubbed "the second coming of Psy" in South Korea for their crossover appeal, yet their music is far more relatable to the youth and young adults, covering and bringing awareness to topics like women empowerment, mental illness, oppressive school systems, and forlorn love. Even for English speakers who do not understand Korean, you can’t help but to hear the raw aggression and conviction in their delivery and feel what they are saying on a deeper level.

Right now, the music video for “Blood, Sweat, & Tears” is on the fast track to 40 million views on YouTube with above a million likes, which is monumental for a K-pop boy group who just released their efforts over two weeks ago. The song “Blood, Sweat, & Tears” itself utilizes and successfully captures the moombahton trap sound - EDM enriched with Reggaeton and trap music that would make the creator of the music sub-genre Dave Nada proud. The song’s sensuality tells the tale of forbidden love and temptation, demonstrative of growing pains associated with adulthood.  The song would remind US Pop listeners of current releases from Skrillex, Diplo, Major Lazer, Sia, Pitbull, and Justin Bieber. Jeff Benjamin of Fuse even weighed in, stating, “...In fact, it wouldn't totally surprise us to hear Major Lazer remixing ‘Blood Sweat & Tears’ and throwing Bieber into the mix. That's how accessible this song is in 2016.” (2.)

Please put BTS's song "Blood, Sweat, & Tears" and other tracks from the album Wings in your catalog for radio rotations. Many fans would be ecstatic to hear it played on iHeartradio stations across the country and streamed internationally. Many even started requesting under the hashtag initiative #InternationalWingsProject (3.b.) for their songs to be played on radio stations in the US and UK. It doesn’t matter the language in which they are speaking in, because we all move to the rhythm and feel of a song. We also know when something is a hit when we hear it. Music is universal, beyond language. If it can incite a feeling in many people, it's serving its purpose. “Blood, Sweat, & Tears” and the rest of the songs on Wings undoubtedly do it.

Quite frankly, we would love to hear BTS on iHeartradio, because BTS deserves to be there with all of the successes and attention they are now receiving. 4 million streams and counting on Spotify show people want to hear it.

Thank you,

A.R.M.Y (fans of BTS)
