Reduce Waste in McHenry County Schools

Food is Too Good for Trash!
Over one third of all food produced in the United States goes uneaten while one in seven people is food insecure. Roughly 7 billion school meals are served each year, and much of the waste from these meals is ending up in landfills, consuming valuable resources and contributing to climate change. Eliminating food waste is the easiest way to reduce global warming.
We teach our kids the nutritional value of foods but not the environmental impact of food waste.
Our schools need to be the hub of teaching sustainable practices and a place where our children and community can learn to help the planet by reducing the food waste & composting.
Please sign this petition to let your school administration know that you support our goal of:
Improving recycling, reducing food waste, implementing share tables, reducing single use plastics & composting food scraps.
Small changes have a big impact. We need to start now for a better community & a more sustainable future.
