Sign this petition to let the city know that we need a shopping center that will help bring more businesses to Kerrville. Many of us are constantly driving to Austin, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, and the surrounding area because they have a lot of things that Kerrville has chosen to pass up on or has declined because they don't want to give a tax break to businesses that want to move here. The more we can show the city our support for this project the less they'll be able to ignore this.
While Kerrville has made some progress, that progress has been painfully reluctant and suppressed. When we stay quiet about projects like this, and don't let them know that there is support in our community, it makes it easy for them to kick it back under the table. Wouldn't you rather have something local for your family to do here, rather than having to make the hour-or-longer-drive and give another city your business?
The more we bring to Kerrville, the more our community and economy will grow. We'll have a wider selection of jobs for families that want to move here. Many companies don't just bring in inside employees, as so many people are worried about. They start their business here with experienced employees, train up potential employees here in the Kerrville area to meet the expectations of their company, and continue to grow and open up more jobs in the area.
This is also an opportunity for people to get out more and see that we do have good local businesses. The more visitors we have, the more income our businesses get, and the more they can do to drive their business to success. Local businesses should be seeing this as a way to attract more people and grow. We have so many shops opening and closing all the time because we just don't have the population or visitors to support these businesses.
