Nyon and District - Curb Senseless Violence in our area before it gets out of control

My son and two of his friends were recently attacked by a group of so called Racaille ( French gangster) in Nyon near the Roman Ruins. They were a brave bunch of trouble makers. Initially 8 or them fighting my son and his friend until another friend came to help. They are not Racaille, they are Cowards causing trouble in a group.

The Cowards were not out to have a good Friday night, but obviously out to find a fight and cause trouble. 4 of the Cowards initially approached my sons friend and started verbally aggressing him. My son stepped in to say please we do not want any trouble,. we don't want a fight. The 4 disappeared and reappeared as 8. My son once again said we don't want trouble and the bravest, smallest of the group hit my son in the face and it all went on from there to end with my son missing a tooth and his prescription glasses. One of his friends with facial bleeding and bruises. Never mind the mental scars this has caused to very decent, respectful and polite youngsters.

It was a dark evening. People wearing masks. So no one could realistically identify the culprits. However when discussing this incident with the local police the same evening they were confident they knew who the culprits were. They suspected a Nyon based group of youngsters that had committed similar offences previously.

Since discussing this issue with friends I realize now that such instances are becoming more and more common. Lots of other innocent youngsters have been threatened or physically attacked in the Nyon and surrounding districts in the past. Some have come off much worse than my son but we rarely see this in the local press in Switzerland.

Something needs to be done before there is a more serious indecent. Youngsters out for a good evening need to know they can go out without fear of being abused or attacked for no reason.

I find it very sad that these delinquents can continue to roam the streets causing trouble week in week out.. If they are over 18 lock them up. If they are minors put them under some sort of curfew. Or ban them from going to places where they regularly cause trouble. i.e Nyon plage and conservatoire at weekends/summer time. Roman Ruins Nyon. Around Train station area. If they are seen in those areas when banned then fine them. Make them do community work, Lock them up in young offenders institutions.


I would like to collect as many signatures as possible from people who want to see the area made safer and to stop this violent mentality amongst the small minority of youngsters escalating.

Whether that be by one of the following suggestions or any other proposals please.

1. the local commune, Nyon District, try to start manning the trouble spots and at the right times. ( They will have statistics that point this out from previous incidents).

2. if the local commune resources are stretched then a volunteer group be set up with limited powers to patrol the trouble spots and work in conjunction with the local police.

3. have CCTV installed in trouble spots. If that doesn't upset anyone
