North Dakota State University, (NDSU), continues the cruel and outdated use live pigs in their Advanced Trauma Life Support training progam in their medical school, despite the American College of Surgeons having approved simulators such as the TraumaMan System. Anatomical and physiological differences between pigs and humans should make this type of training obsolete.
The use of live animals in medical school curricula is unnecessary crruelty. NDSU is one of only seven medical schools in the U.S. and Canada that continue to use live animals for training. Given the availability of alternatives, there is no justification for the continued use of live animals.
Please replace this cruel and unnecessary practice immediately and provide nonanimal training methods.
