Purina is a household name and the go-to brand for many people who love their pets and want to feed them as well as their budget allows. Purina products are available on every supermarket shelf and in most pet and farm stores.
However, just as we people want to know where our own food comes from, we also want to know where our pets' food is sourced. When asked, Purina will not divulge their ingredient suppliers, even by country, for "proprietary reasons". Sorry, Purina, we love our pets and deserve to know where the ingredients in their food are sourced and how and where they are grown. We can sadly count on the fact that the grains and meats in our pets' food contain genetically modified organisms (GMO's).
What Purina labels do show is that their pet food contains artificial ingredients that are harmful to our four-legged family members. For example, potassium chloride does not belong in anyone's food---human or animal. Our pets don't need to suffer from side-effects such as cardiac arrest and gastrointestinal injuries.
Purina, it's time to step up and lead the industry in more than sales. Our pets deserve much better and you can produce a much healthier product.

Today I am asking you for transparency and change at Purina.
I have recently contacted your company for information and have been denied important answers. Pursuant to that communication, I conducted considerable research about your company and its products, and I was shocked and saddened. As you know, I am far from alone; the signers of this petition proudly stand with me.
For too long your pet food has contained questionable ingredients and potentially dangerous chemicals. For example, I’m sure you’re aware that your Beneful dog food has generated serious legal complaints, yet your company has continued to deny that there could be the slightest bit of danger in your ingredients. Propylene glycol does not belong in anyone’s food, and the impacts on our pets are heartbreaking.
You need to remove it from every one of your products. Now.
You have denied myself and others information about where your ingredients come from, stating "it's company confidential information", as you replied in my recent request. We pet owners deserve to know exactly where our pets’ food comes from., and if you have nothing to hide why won’t you tell us?
You should be proud to give credit to responsible farmers and ranchers who supply your ingredients.
Your company has made billions of dollars, and it’s time to spend some of those profits on significant change to protect and improve the health of our pets.. We will continue to boycott your products, and we will continue to fight until we see meaningful action.
Please let me know you care and what you plan to do to address this serious matter.
