We demand that local councils treat elderly and vulnerable persons with dignity and respect

  • by: Peter James
  • recipient: The CEO of local councils who are responsible for the housing services of said council

I suffered a catastrophic heart attack in 2013 which has left me totally disabled and utterly vulnerable.I had not been home from hospital for more than two weeks before my local council (MEDWAY ) started harassing me by letter, visits and emails for overdue council tax.Despite informing my council of my predicament they sent bailiffs around who terrified me and my wife, who was my sole carer, so badly that we were both rushed to hospital with suspected heart attacks.Even now they are still bullying us.
We are both 70 years old but there are many vulnerable people in this country, young, old, disabled and even children who local councils ride rough shod over us to collect debts that because of benefit cuts, people simply cannot pay.
So please sign this petition in order that we can lawfully make local councils respect the vulnerable.

Stop councils bullying vulnerable people in the execution of housing arrears
