withdraw, Aung San Suu Kyi honour

The Rohingya, a  peaceful community of one million people forced into destitution and subjected to murder rape and infanticide on daily bases.

Indigenous to Rakhine state for more than 900 years.

In 1531, Rakhine was annexed into Burma, by the Portuguese.

In 1852, Britain occupied Burma and incorporated it into British India. Muslims integrated with the indigenous people to form the present day community.
Burma gained independence in1948, and the first constitution guaranteed the Rohingya full citizenship and future autonomy.
An army coup in 1958, removed the democratic government, suspended the constitution, and stripped The Rohingya of citizenship.
Aung San Suu Kyi, a politician, advocating human rights and social justice,  was deemed to be dissident. She was arrested and imprisoned.
In 2010, a civilian government was installed and released Aung San Suu Kyi.

As a  champion human rights, the international community awarded her many accolades, including a Nobel peace prize and an Honorary Doctorate from Oxford University in 2012.

Aung San Suu Kyi stood for election in 2015, and won a landslide victory and was appointed state chancellor, a de facto president of Burma, (renamed Myanmar).

In power, she affiliated with the Army, sanctioning the continuation of their oppressive xenophobic policies, by her deafening silence.

Under her tenure, the army's abuses escalated into a grotesque genocidal campaign, of ethnic cleansing, contemptuously ignoring international condemnation.

Her high principles appeared to be abandoned, in favour of a self-serving agenda with a Machiavellian apathy to human suffering,

In conclusion,  Aung San Suu Kyi manipulated international opinion. Colluded in silence acceptance of violent ethnic cleansing, She then proceeded to preside over and participate in a cover-up campaign of deflections, denials, and misinformation.

She received the honorary accolades for principles she subsequently betrayed. Therefore the said accolades, are forfeited.

Oxford University, morally and ethically, is obliged to withdraw the honorary Doctorate awarded under false pretence. The same argument applies to the Nobel peace prize awarded to her in 1991.

The awarding institutions assume a mantle for  Integrity that they must act within.

It is not an attribute of Integrity to NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE, but it is to ACKNOWLEDGE and  AMEND THE MISTAKES you MAKE.
