Urge Montana to Implement Animal Cruelty Registry to Protect Animals

  • by: Sue Lee

Several cases of abused horses and other poor defenseless animals have surfaced in Montana, highlighting the fact that something needs to be done in their name.  My ongoing effort is to urge each state to implement an animal cruelty registry database until such a registry is put into law nationwide.  You can read more on animal issues and cruelty in Montana at http://www.prosecutingattorneys.org/wp-content/uploads/Montana-Animal-Cruelty-Summary.pdf

An animal cruelty registry should be formulated to be similar in stature to that of a child abuse or sex offender’s registry with serious implications.  Any person that is found guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect needs to be placed on this database, which is required to be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers need to be banned from future pet ownership or ever working with or caring for them for a lifetime.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource.

My effort in this petition is to encourage Montana State Legislators to implement such a database that would provide protection for all animals through strict enforcement.  You can help me with my continuing effort by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments as a voice for the voiceless.

Montana State Legislators – I strongly urge you to take some vital steps in protecting animals throughout your state by implementing and fully enforcing an animal cruelty registry database.  The animal cruelty registry should be formulated to be similar in stature to that of a child abuse or sex offender’s registry with serious implications.
