Save Devon from the bulldozers.

The government has earmarked 200,000 houses to be built in Devon, every five years. These houses are not needed here - they are being built on farm land and in areas of outstanding natural beauty - 150 houses around a village of 50 - 5,000 houses around a village next to Dartmoor - these houses are unsustainable, identikit houses filling acres and acres of farmland. The government has given the greenlight to developers to build where they like and whatever they like with no new infrastructure whatsoever and are destroying communities, countryside, wildlife, towns and jobs. They are a disaster and completely opposed by the overwhelming majority of local people. Please help us petition local and central government, before its too late and Devon is consumed, thank you.

Please listen to the voice of the people who live here and all who are concerned at the destruction of our environment and our county.  We believe that the current government building policy in our county and in the majority of rural areas in the UK is unsustainable and a disaster for the countryside and farming.  The policy of 'spreading the burden' has meant houses being built in areas where they are not needed and where they adversely and improportionately impact on the enviroment and on peoples lives and well being.  The policy of stimulating and supporting the building industry by allowing them to build pretty much what they want where they want, has meant that the most precious countryside in AONB are under threat and that rural jobs and infrastructure can not cope.  Local communities have been completely ignored in this land grab and the future for places like Devon is bleak as we see our greenfields swallowed up and our main industries, tourism and farming disappear under acres of hideous, unnecessary and inappropriate mass developments.

Please stop and listen to local communities before its too late
