Film and TV Production Incentives will bring jobs and economic spending to Minnesota. In the past 4 years, the Film and TV Production Jobs Program (aka Snowbate) has created over $75 million in new Economic Spending. It has attracted new productions from Fox Searchlight, HBO, ABC, Netflix, Amazon and IFC. We have strengthened our local Advertising Industry by adding 67 TV Commercial Productions and continued the growth of our Post-Production Industry by adding 57 Post Production Projects, including a new animated series for Amazon.
The Snowbate program has achieved all of this, while being only modestly funded. Many states offer Production Incentives far greater than what MN offers. With an increase of Incentive Funding we can successsfully attract more Economic Spending, Film and TV Productions and jobs to MN. It's time to match what other States Incentives offer. It is time to EXPAND the SNOWBATE program in MN.
