Ermelo N17 Bypass Survey

Roads transport affect all aspects of development including businesses relying on roads to transport goods between manufacturing point to the destinations points, manufacturing firms needs roads to deliver materials and commuters travel from destination to another for different reasons (Cross border, 2016). The investors’ perceptions about Africa as a risky destination is not only slowing the growth of Africa as a continent but also costing Africa lots of opportunities (NEPAD, 2017).

To: Ermelo residents, EBA, Afri-Forum, Farmers' Association, SANRAL, Visitors, Tourists and Community of Ermelo.
You have been therefore selected to participate in the study because of crucial role of the residents/business/Municipality/visitors towards the building of a bypass in the town of Ermelo.

The important role played by small towns and communities located on National Roads in serving the needs of the travellers who stop by or stay overnight while on their journey can not be undermined. Studies have shown that despite the benefit of bypasses, they remain controversial.

A bypass is generally associated with both positive and negative impacts on a small such as Ermelo – the travel time of passing travellers/tourists and enhanced environmental amenities for local residents of the town is contrasted with the businesses that will lose income due to the bypass.

In order to investigate the impact of the bypass, the researcher is conducting a survey with you the concerned residents of Wesselton, Ermelo Suburbs, Municipality, EBA, and SANRAL as you are in a position to provide valuable information about the effect of the bypass. The researcher would like to invite you to be part of the study, which will help the researcher to investigate the economic impact of a proposed bypass in Ermelo.
