Boycott the Bahamas

Boycott the Bahamas

Target:
Ministry of Tourism Bahamas
Sponsored by:

I was drugged, raped, and a knife held to my throat within 32 hours of our arrival at our hotel in the Bahamas, my first time there. This happened on Paradise Island Bahamas inside our hotel. The Government of the Bahamas let in and is letting in thousands and thousands of foreign workers and letting them live in the hotels with women and children. The Government of the Bahamas has publicly told all that they let these foreign men in without doing any immigration procedures nor issueing work permits and the hotels are not registering them. The Government of the Bahamas has done this as a favor to a hotel builder to speed up the building. The government of the Bahamas sells tickets online for vacation packages and then places buyers in danger knowing this information also knowing of rapes by construction workers, a young lady was raped on her honeymoon. I reported my attack and yet nothing has been done, even though we have photos, evidence, witnesses, medical info., and gave them a person to point out the men. The men were still at this hotel when I reported yet no-one bothered to go over there (10 minutes tops) to protect the safety of others. These men are still free to do the same to others today.

We want safety issues always in place for all peoples coming and going in this country. We want them to stop placing us in dangers way when they know what is going on. We want justice when we report crimes. The Bahamas will be building for the next ten years and bringing in thousands and thousands of foreign workers to do this. I am speaking up to protect others and to let you know that it is not safe. The United Nations has come out with a report studied for many years and they have reported that the "Bahamas is the Rape Capital of the World" The Bahamas has the "most violent" deaths in the world and a very high assault rate. It is known that the police may try to coerce victims from reporting sexual assault. We want the Government of the Bahamas and the Ministry of Tourism to stop placing us in dangers way, to think about their tourists and to make the police take all crime reports seriously, tourist's cases do not seem important at all to them.

I reported three men to the police, they were right there when I reported yet they are still free. I could have died that night from these drugs. The police closed my case even though it was new one week after Natalee Holloway went missing, and they had never investigated it yet. I want my case brought back to the USA now and investigated, two countries will aid in this investigation but the Government of the Bahamas will not let it come back here to be done. (please write to paul@rbpf.org  and tell him to give POL/CDU/32/11 Bahamas back into the USA)

The hotels and Bahamas.com hide hidden clauses that all customers sign when registering and/or buying from them. These clauses state that if anything happens to you on their islands they will not take any responsibility yet they place us in dangers way. We want this stopped now.  Hotels there are making their employees sign agreements stating they will never discuss even crime information to get these criminals off the streets or prosecuted. These agreements are ongoing for their lifetime even if they are dismissed, this is an unsafe practice for all tourists and even their own citizens.

The Government of the Bahamas is letting out criminals in this tiny country if they are not able to start a trial within two years, hundreds are walking the streets amongst the tourists everyday. We want them to protect us if they want us to come there. We want people to know what is going on there and we want to boycott until our safety measures are taken seriously. Please sign the petition, they will not change unless we speak up! We want safety, justice and immediate investigations for the protection of others when someone does report a crime. We want all clauses prior to purchase to be upfront where buyers will see them. We want the crimes stopped on tourists now!

We have heard this true story. Bahamians you have been asked to return this case to American authorities, yet you do nothing. You have been asked to help the victims try to become whole again yet you do nothing except cause more trouble for everyone, including your own country. Why should any of us want to go to your country if this is your way of acting professionally? I for one will keep telling my friends and family and pray that karma knocks at your doorsteps.

This is wrong and the country of Bahamas should be held completely responsible for what happened to these ladies. This should have never happened. They ( the countries) are the ones letting in people to work without even screening or documenting they are illegal aliens. Sounds about what is happening here in USA! No one not even our own government knows how many illegal aliens are in USA much less doing anything to get them out of our country. It's time all countries including USA are forced to protect thier legal citizens by documenting, heavily fining, instant deporting, and keeping updates on illegal aliens to make sure they do not simply return after they've been deported. Those illegals who commit crimes should be dealt with immediately! ALL illegals are criminals because they are illegally in countries where they do not have any legal status. Being in a country illegally is a crime so therefore those who do this are indeed criminals and should be dealt with immediately!

I hate rapists and I understand a lot of other people hate rapists. Even Jailbirds hate rapists. I guess the only way to deal with such people is to fight fire with fire, for the best results.....

I've been before a Bahamian Magistrate before and the laws are geared towards the laws of Great Britain. Perhaps that's where you may find some answers. Good luck.

I don't go on vacation to be a victim of violent crime. The Government of the Bahamas needs to take this issue seriously. I have no intention of visiting or bringing my family to this destination, until you get your act together and protect NOT ONLY TOURISTS, but also YOUR CITIZENS and WORKERS! Put an end to this injustice NOW!

Rape and violent crime should not be part of one's "vacation memories"; furthermore, I'm sure it's not only tourists, but also local citizens who are victims. And if employees have to sign a form saying they will not discuss crimes, I'm sure this applies, even if they are victims of a crime. NO ONE should be put in such a position. *** It is LONG OVERDUE that the government of the Bahamas take this issue seriously, and take care of ANYONE who visits or lives there. DO YOUR JOB! ***
