I propose an immigration amnesty be issued. Amnesty should be given to illegal U.S. residents who can prove thier presence in the United States for five or more years and have legal family in the United States. They should still meet the U.S citizenship standards: read, write, and speak English. They also should know adequate U.S. History and be or good morale (no felons or drug convictions or any kind). These immigrants need to be placed on a probation period as specified by Congress. If they recieve any felony charges within those five years, thier citizenship should be revoked.
Also, upon becoming legal citizens of the United States these immigrants must pay taxes if working. They need to pay into the taxes, but should not be allowed to file a return for a time specified by Congress. This will be repayment for any illegal work done beforehand. This time period should coincide with the probationary period.
The proposition will help keep families together. It will also be beneficial to America. The only way to go is Immigration Amnesty.

STOP THE HATE. STOP RACISM. These people are human beings.
It's unbelievable that large groups in the US, are acting the same way as they were treated before. How soon they forget. Shame on you. The undocumented works hard to support their families. They need to come out of the shadows. By paying taxes they will be contributing to the economy downturn.

I think it's time that we came to a reasonable and fair compromise on this issue. Many of these illegal immigrants have been working and living here for years, raising families, contributing to the economy and desiring to be a part of the American fabric. Our government encouraged their presence here and Americans have benefited from their services and labor. It's time to do the right thing.

I agree with this petition on everything EXCEPT the not being able to file taxes. If they are following all the other rules and pay whatever fines they need to pay, then They should be able to file taxes, most of them that are working now and that are illegal are paying taxes and not getting anything back at tax time. Does this not count for something?

Hi I am married to a man who is trying to become a US citizen but in the middle of the process Immigration went and arrested everyone in his construction company and sent them all back to Mexico . We do have a 3 year old son who has been without his father for almost 2 years since we are trying to get him back into the US legally its taking along time .

This cause hits close to home for me. My husband is illegal and we want very badly for him to become a US Citizen. We live in a state with one of the hardest immigration laws, and are tired of having to worry about what is going to happen to our family.

I do believe there should be some kind of reform. I'm going through a situation now with my husband, and I think it is so unfair how the "government" is going about all of this. They are separating families and just telling the other half to go "home" but this is there home. Some have been here since they were little kids, and they are having to pay for the mistake their parents made by bringing them here. They didn't have a choice. They were too small to understand things. Now, they've been here and this is the only home they know. How can the "government" just send them back to a country they have no knowledge of.

People who have problems with immigration need to get over themselves. It goes against what this country stands for, and they are doing a lot more good than bad for our economy. If we don't give them amnesty, we're probably only going to worsen our current problems.

I was born and raised a New Yorker. I now live in Arizona and Agree 100% with this petition. I feel this will help all US citizen and will help all Immigrants realize that they must obey the laws in the US or else they will be banned from the US. There is no other way to control our immigration problems.
