This is a petition to congress to change the laws of our pets, a petition in making them change the law that states pets are merely personal property and make it a felony to abuse animals. Pets are family members and, in some cases, can be worse on people than the loss of a human family member. "It's just a dog", no it's not. It's someones beloved member of their family, someones angel that gives them unconditional love and that possibly may be the only one that someone has. Animal abuse is getting worse every day that goes by, why, because to many people are getting away with nothing but probation, a slap on the wrist, no matter how bad they abuse an animal. This is a crime against nature and congress needs to be aware of this terrible abuse to our pets by these mentally unstable people. These are people walking the same street as we do and if they are capable of harming or killing someones family member, this is a mental problem leading to who knows what they will or are capable of doing to hurt a life that thinks and walks the same as we do.
