Puppy Mills .."Let's Make them illegal in Canada "

  • by: Cyndi Hillier
  • recipient: Prime minister of Canada Stephen Harper & Justice minister Rob Nicholson

Many of us have profound experiences of awe & reverence before the universe. We understand that what is regarded as sacred is more likely to be treated with care and  respect.

Puppy mills  are  a large scale operations that force breeder dogs to produce litter after litter .When they can no longer reproduce they are usually killed.

The largest scale puupy mill industry is the Hunte Coporation,U.S,it is estimated to breed close to 67,000 per year.Canada is home also to a multimillion dollarpuppy mill industry, with Ontario being the only province to enact legislation that covers puppy mills--it is time to make this change on a national level.

I urge the Prime minister of Canada,Sephen Harper& Justice minister,Rob Nicholson to revise the cruelty to animal act & put an end to animal abuse in Puppy mills.

"Canada needs an effective animal cruelty law to better protect animals from cruelty and abuse.
Canada is home to a multimilliom dollar puppy industry. Under the current criminal code law 444-447 in Canada, these horrible conditions still exist.Puppy mills dogs are continously bred in very inexcusable conditions with no human contact. They live either chained on or in extremely tiny unsanitary wire cages, that are usually stacked, allowing the excrements to fall on the other dogs. When the adult dog is worn out from over breeding they are often killed. Many of the puppies sadly have chronic health issues...Parvovirus,limb deformities & are born blind and deaf due to the overbreeding.

People who run puppy mills are not required to give or maintain any standard of care & are only concerned about quantity not quality. This idea makes me sick, that animals are suffering because of the act of mankind. To them compassion doesn't count it is all about profit. The Pet Shops  that sell puppies should have a higher sense of moral values since they are directly supporting puppy mills & therefore supporting animal abuse.NEVER purchase from a pet store, newspaper ad or over the internet - because of the parents(breeder dogs). It can only help our cause if we can take away their market. If a person goes to a breeder's facility, they must also INSIST on seeing the parents of the puppies

If these images does not cause others to do something , then we are naive to the facts, that these precious gifts...all innocent...are being abused."Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way." Martin Luther King, Jr.

Efforts to safeguard & cherish these animals needs to be infused with a vision of the sacred.

Please help me in signing this petition to stop Puppy Mills in Canada..
Thank -You.

We the undersigned do not want this neglect and abuse to continue. Please stop selling puppies in pet shops since you are directly engaging in animal abuse by supporting Puppy Mills. Puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills. Reputable breeders sell direct to their clients, not to pet stores. When brokers can't move puppies when  they are still little and cute they kill them.Puppy Mills are a very dark and evil industry, the puppies endure neglect  & daily abuse being caged up with no exercise or medical treatment. They live in deplorable conditions.

Ontario is the first & only Province in Canada to enact legislation that covers Puppy mills---it is time to make this change on a national level.

THE CYCLE HAS TO END...and it has to start with you. You the leaders of our country should insist on a strong code of conduct!

Thank-You
