SAVE THE KOALA!

Not officially classified endangered, the population of the beloved koala, one of Australia's most famous marcupial.   has dropped by 90% in less than a decade! The destruction of their natural habitat, a narrow crescent on the eastern coast of Australia threatens them.  Agriculture and urban development have not only reduced the area available to them, but added other dangers. Their habitat has been criss-crossed by roads, resulting in many road kills, and attacks by neighboring pet dogs now are frequent.  Disease, too, has taken its toll.
There are less than 1,000!
Another problem that occurs with numbers so low, is incest problems and deformity.  This occurs in all speices on Earth if the numbers get too low.  It's sad, horrible and can be avoided.

America has placed Koala's on the endangered species list recognizing the need to.  No more can anyone bring Koala's into the States, including Zoos.  I think it's embarrassing Australia has not.
Koala's in need

We the undersigned focus your attention to the plight of the Koala, one of Australia's most famous marcupials,  to be added to the 'Endangered Species List' without hesitation or question.

The United States recently added the Koala to the endangered list.  Koala's aren't found in the wild in the U.S. though the government is hoping they can help, by adding them.   No longer can people bring Koala's into the states.  Scientists also think everyone will now be more aware of the dangers of cutting down trees.

Koala's rely on eucalyptus tree's for food and water as well as using the same tree's for their habitat, so when a large percentage of these tree's are being continually felled, that means it greatly impacts on Koala's who are losing their habitat and food source at a greater rate. This not only means forests are reducing but in the end Koala's will become seriously endangered not only in this area on the Sunshine Coast but in other area's throughout Australia.

It's noted and public that the United States and Australia are working together to save Koala's from extinction.   Great news, so please add them on our list too.

Currently in Australia, Koala's are considered to be "Secure", definitely not "endangered".  Please consider this plight of this region where Koala's inhabit where they are facing being wiped out. 1000 Koala's are reducing fast so we must act quickly to ensure their survival.

With kind regards from all whom have signed and note all are very grateful for your time and consideration on this crucial matter.

I would be pleased to hear from you as to a favourable outcome.

Thank you in anticipation,

Yours sincerely
