Urge Congress on EMF Safety, FCC Must Change Exposure Guidelines for Microwave Radiation Exposure

We the undersigned, the American people, petition Congress to take immediate and effective measures to protect the public from electromagnetic pollution.
The following 4 steps should be taken:
1. Mandate the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revisit its exposure guidelines for radiofrequency radiation (RF) immediately.%uFFFD
2. Repeal Section 704 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which took away the rights of state and local governments to stop the erection of cell towers and wireless antennas in their communities based on "environmental" grounds (defined by FCC as "human health").
3. Declare a national moratorium on further wireless infrastructure build-out, including the Wi-Max roll-out currently underway, a joint venture of Sprint, Time Warner Cable, Google, Clearwire and others.%uFFFD
4. Establish cell phone and wireless-free neighborhoods, transportation options, government buildings, and public spaces; require employers to establish wireless free zones; and, mandate the removal of cellular and wireless technologies from public schools and their properties.

Known biological effects of radiofrequency radiation and low frequency fields were described in detail in the BioInitiative Report ( www.BioInitiative.org). In short, electromagnetic fields are leading to genetic effects, cancer, cellular/molecular effects, behavioral changes, nervous system dysfunction, blood-brain barrier permeability, calcium efflux, cardiovascular changes, sleeping disorders, hormonal disturbance, immune system changes, metabolic effects, fertility impairment and the interpersonal effects related to a constant background of stress.

When I first had access to a computer with a CRT screen, I thought it was wonderful! All the things I could do with it...all the tasks that were made easy by this machine. But, while I worked, my skin turned red and burned, my eyes looked like they had been sand blasted, my lymph glands swelled up in my arms, chest and neck and I found myself seeking medical help with these strange symptoms. My employer ( a school district) assumed that I was "crazy" and treated me as such...until I was able to obtain information from NIOSH on studies in Sweeden that had shown the very same effect and showed them warnings from "Arts Hazard News" that many of the computer graphic artists were encountering the same symptoms. While others were given lap top computers and flat screen monitors, I was not allowed (as a teacher) to have the use of one for several years, until I insisted that I needed access to a useable computer to perform the job that I was hired to do. With a flat screen monitor I am able to use a computer most of the time. However, If my body becomes too acidic, I get the same reaction from even this exposure to EMF...as I do with cell phones, etc. Cell phones make my body go numb by the phone, whether it is by the face ( face goes numb and head aches within minutes to hour), or hand held...my hand goes numb then swells later. Keeping my system alkalinic helps me to be around these fields...however, with the new "Smart Meters" installed by the power company recently, I'm not so sure that some recent health effects are not related to the increased EMF from these meters communicating with the one on the side of my house by my bedroom. The flu-like symptoms are too classic to not be related...especially when they did not exist prior to the installation of the meter.

I am an ex-electronic warfare technician and a father of 3 who fully understands the biophysical effects of EM radiation exposure. I would like to see Federal legislation limiting the outputs, exposures and use of wireless devices in our country, especially those that can be accessed and used by our children. If this issue is not addressed soon the next major health-related outcome will not be from smoking or obesity, it will the onset of cancers, tumors and other pathologies related to EM exposure.

I have checked with a website where cell towers are registered and there are over 300 within 4 miles of my home. Perhaps one iwould not pose a significant health problem, but 364 is the worst kind of pollution. Please consider the health of our children over corporate profits. Please regulate this industry.

When is Congress going to do something to reduce the problems with electromagnetic exposure? Many European countries are already way ahead of the US (not surprising), taking measures to reduce exposure, limiting or tearing down cell towers, not permitting kids to use cell phones etc. It's time OUR government began showing they care about the citizens who put them in office.

I understand the limits of anecdotal information, but some people's stories with regard to this issue are extremely compelling. We should at least be investigating this phenomenon and not pretending all is well when we have no information to support that position.

7 months ago I started having symptoms of Electro Hyper Sensitivity. I couldn't have imagined a worse nightmare. I am 37, an attorney with MBA, I was about to start my own law firm and have a baby but this condition changed it all. I cannot work since I cannot use computers, cell phones and regular phones, I cannot watch TV, go to the cinema or even sit in a coffee house. I cannot be in places with routers or wifi, energy efficient light bulb give me horrible pains. I feel strong pains from every appliance, even from a wall socket and the worst pains are from cellular antennas. Considering this condition has effects on the reproduction system so far I did not get pregnant but worst, now I do not want to get pregnant since the potential health effects on the fetus. Considering my age and the fact that there is no treatment for this condition I am not sure I will ever be able to have a baby. It seems that I got this condition as a result of living in an apartment with high EMF and in close proximity to 4 big cellular antenna towers. I basically lost my life. It is unthinkable that despite the tremendous technological changes that have taken place in the past 15 years, to the best of my knowledge, no serious research as to the effects of these technologies was sponsored by the health department. While there is growing evidence of serious health problems resulting from exposure to these technologies, the different government agencies are failing to act upon this evidence and they are doing nothing to ensure that the public is protected. While it is acknowledged that EHS exists there is still no knowledge as to what happens in the body of people with EHS that causing them to suffer pain from electricity and this is because there was no proper research_. It seems that everyone is concerned with protecting the environment and forget that we first should protect the people! I am very concerned about my future as it seems that there is no place I will be able to live in and no job I will be able to do and I am trying not to think about all the diseases that because of the EHS I have greater chances of getting, like cancer. I am scared. PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ACTION!

The adjacent approx. 60 acre property houses a resident-owned 55+ mobile home park, a Day Care center across the street on Fulton Road, adjacent to a tennis court, the playing field for Woodland Park Middle School and Woodland Park. Also nearby a newer Senior Apartment Complex and residential homes. The very population at risk for impairment from radio frequency waves. Many seniors wear pacemakers and have a multitude of health issues. The City of San Marcos, CA does not measure the 1500 feet setback recommended by other city ordinances. The City of San Marcos Planning Department is preparing to hear this matter on March 1, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. and according to the Planning Department, a packet is being prepared for the Planning Commissioners to APPROVE this project. Residents within a 500' radius have been notified by letter both about the project and the hearing (3-1-2010). Some residents are EXTREMELY CONCERNED for the welfare of both themselves and their neighbors!!!

I ask for your attention to the charge needed desperately for EMF Safety I have a medical condition that is brain /neurological based due to i reached the EPA limit for arsenic exposure poisoning in the year of 2005 that had left me in a wheelchair bound for over 2 in half years. I have come a long way to be able to have the brain function to write this . I was at the level of brain processing as an MRDD child or other severe brain related patients for over the 3 years. I had to fight to get to this point and still have to have caregiver attention to this day. These matters regarding EMF safety are vitally important to me for All the noted intelligible studies indicated the impact of cell phones frequencies on the health of the brain of any individual . Including my own specific situation where i had high levels of arsenic poisoning in my brain and through out my body. I still have to undergo more medical treatment to remove the arsenic exposure levels so I can gain all of my bodily functions. In the meantime the arsenic exposure that has affected my brain processing , memory, everyday tasks, all various parts of how the brain processes i have to fight for each word i write for example. The impact of my body around any cell phone makes my brain processing very difficult to the point of inoperable. The EMF exposure from these cell phones in my presence causes me almost to "shut down" is the term my caregivers say to me as they literally watch me with their own eyes that I lose the ability to communicate , fight for words to speak , or know literally what i am supposed to do next for my short term memory is affected severely in moments time , when i have my caregiver's cell phone near my head or anywhere near my body. My doctor who specializes in treating patients for heavy metal exposure said that the high concentration of heavy metal such as the arsenic which targets the brain when i am near a High EMF source the HIGH EMF exposure as penetrates my body where the high concentration of toxic metal is , this part of the body becomes weakend drastically and gets worse with EMF length of time exposure. I only ask that if this that has dramatically affected my body with a cell phone . I cannot fathom what this exposure would do to healthy young developing brains and those of older age the elderly or those even in general. I please ask that you take in regards of every word i have written for me to write has been a great challenge for every word.
