Prevent the establishment of a minimum SAT® score required for college entry

Pennsylvania legislature is attempting to create a law regarding college acceptance based on test scores from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT®). In July, Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman of the Pennsylvania General Assembly proposed the establishment of a minimum SAT® score. The bill was accepted by the General Assembly and now sits on the desk of Tom Wolf, the current governor of Pennsylvania.

This bill, if ratified, will require a minimum SAT® score of 1300 for acceptance into any state college in Pennsylvania, beginning in the fall of 2020. Representatives from each state university met in August and unanimously agreed to support this bill. The representative from West Chester University expressed hope that the bill might "improve standards of learning and education."

Although endorsed by schools, this bill has generated public outcry. Students and parents especially are outraged at this attempt to exclude students from higher education based on a test score. Hundreds of thousands of students will be denied acceptance into state colleges simply because they did not rank highly enough on a single test.

This petition has been created to protest that exclusivity, and students all across Pennsylvania are collecting signatures. If 50,000 signatures are obtained by this petition, Governor Tom Wolf will reject the bill.

Do you feel as though you can be accurately defined by a single test score? Do you want yourself and others to be able to pursue higher education without being denied due to an unfair law? Each signature obtained is extremely important. Even just one signature, your signature, could be the one that makes the difference.

By signing this petition, you will be supporting the inclusivity of students from all intellectual backgrounds and their right to higher education.
