Calling on Chris Grayling secretary of state for justice to release all over tariff IPP prisoners

  • by: Donna Gregory

We have many men/women languishing in our prisons, with no light at the end of the tunnel for release & are many years over tariff. We need Chris Grayling to use his powers given by government to implement their release.

Dear, Mr Grayling mp (secretary of state for justice).

I am writing this letter with regards to the over tariff prisoners we have sat languishing in out prisons.

I have started an online petition to encourage you to use your powers implemented by government, you can release the over tariff prisoners now if you wanted to.

It is safer to release a prisoner on an indertminate sentence than one on a determinate.  Our prisons have reached past breaking point & most of those you will find are repeat offenders released from a determinate sentence.  Once a determinate sentenced prisoner is released they don't spend too much time on license, once released from an inderminate sentence they are subject t a 99 yr license & rigorous supervision.

So once releasing either indeterminate or determinate sentences I think you will find it safer to release inderminate prisoners, whom are the least likely to re-offend.

                                    Yours sincerely

Mrs Donna Gregory & all family members of over tariff IPP prisoners

I have a reporter from the BBC involved in this cause but am trying to get more signatures on this petition so please pass this link onto your family & friends, then we really prove to government how unjust they are being & especially this sentence.
Update #39 years ago
Well I now have a petition up on HM Government e-petition site as I am trying to raise the profile of this cause. This is a cause so VERY close to my heart as my husband received 6.5 YR IPP, whom has been in almost 11 YRS so come on everybody we need to get these men/women whom are languishing many YRS over their tariff.
Update #29 years ago
Well we have now gone to 9 signatures, I am doing my best to promote this petition but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, I am asking all people to promote this petition & get lots more signatures. My life is just in limbo as are so many others... please help me get this petition around.

We only have 8 signatures, this is an important cause to many people languishing in our prisons many years over tariff. It is also an important issue to the many families of those whom are many years over tariff. My husband is almost 4.5 yrs over tariff. please pass this on & promote this petition.
