Facebook don't boot non paid for posts off the main newsfeed

Facebook is testing in countries moving all posts that aren't by friends or advertisers to a secondary newsfeed which because it doesn't come up automatically will mean less visits! Cant work out any rationale behind this besides forcing sites (some of whom are small or non profit and may not be able to promote posts much) to pay for all posts being seen! If you follow or like a page, most people understand that'll it will pop up on their newsfeed and if they don't want it to, they can unlike or unfollow. By the nature of this, most things you like or follow are either associated with someone you know or something you are or have expressed interest in and hence do you object to seeing it and do you want either to get less people looking at it. This could cripple small businesses, charities, activist groups, cultural activities and media outlets and result in only the richer and bigger sites getting viewed as so many see things through Facebook. Much and all as we love and use Facebook, if this comes through, it may be time to start looking at alternatives if not completely(too many people on it to give up) but as a form of seeing a newsfeed with interests and things you're personally connected with! if you have a page or care about a person, an organization or an issue with one and don't want to see it's visits sacrificed for big organizations and companies that can afford to spends a lot on promotion, then sign this and let Facebook now this can never come to Ireland!
