Tell the EPA: Americans Deserve Clean Drinking Water!

  • by: Chris Wolverton

A new federal report found traces of 18 unregulated chemicals from over 1/3 of United States drinking facilities nationwide. This includes 11 perflorinated compounds, an herbicide, two solvents, an antibacterial compound, a metal and an antidepressant.

Concentrations of these chemicals were low, but scientists fear they could build up over time and have long-term consequences. One of the perflorinated chemicals found (PFOA) has been linked to cancer and other health problems in West Virginia communities where water is polluted by a chemical plant.

All living things need water to survive, so the EPA needs to ensure that our drinking water is free of contaminants that can make us sick in the short or long term. Please sign the petition to tell the EPA to take action to eliminate harmful chemicals from our water supply!
