Demand Justice For Tysons and Buddys Killers -- FORT WORTH PD

Estimated the canine death toll at the hands of the police at 25-30 dogs each day. If accurate, that mean up to 11,000 dead dogs each year, or almost exactly ten dogs for each human being shot and killed by a cop. Over half of those dogs are wrongfully killed, the officer thinking the dog was charging aggressively and really he was just coming to greet you.

Fort Worth PD shot and killed Tyson and Buddy on 10/12/16 when responding to a call from the homeowner about and man with a gun on the property. The dogs were killed in their own backyard.

  • The dogs were in side when the police arrived
  • The suspects were caught and taken to jail
  • Homeowner went out front twice to ask if they were done with the investigation the second time the police said "we're done, go ahead and let the dogs out"
  • The dogs were let into backyard to use bathroom
  • Plainclothes training officer and uniformed rookie officer being trained were in the backyard (no body cams)
  • The police did not have a search warrant yet (why were they in the backyard)
  • Training officer shoots at dog 7 times rookie shoots 2 times dogs are cornered at backdoor tryin to get back in when they were shot
  • Officers took turns picking up Tyson's body by his harness joking and laughing "this one was a healthy one" like he was a trophy kill
  • Multiple witnesses along with survallinace recording of the officers distastful actions
  • When asked the names of the officers that killed the dogs they refused to give information
  • No police contact card was left (police always leave a contact card with the person that reports a crime taking place on their property [the guy with the gun])

I do not know the police officers names yet that killed Tyson and Buddy because the report is still awaiting approval. I demand justice for what those FWPD officers did to Tyson and Buddy.
Tyson is not an aggressive dog. He has no history of being aggressive. He has been picked up by animal control numerous times for jumping the fence and running off and not once on any occasion did he get aggressive with the dogcatcher.

When your dog companion is shot and killed by police it can be a shattering life changing event. Our feelings towards pets are so special that experts have a term for the relationship, the human-companion animal bond. When this bond is severed, the sense of loss can be overwhelming. Psychologists now acknowledge that we need as much support (but get far less) with the loss of a companion animal.

Please support holding these officers accountable the ones that killed them and the ones that mistreated Tyson's body after he died. They did not provide medical attention. Had they allowed medical attention the dogs could possibly be alive today. I want them to be held accountable, just like any other person would. I want to make it illegal for police to shoot dogs. POLICE CARRY PEPPER SPRAY USE IT! Fort Worth PD is trained to properly handle aggressive dogs! They use their other training why don't they use their newly learned ways of handling dogs without using deadly force?!

I BELIEVE THAT WAS THE POLICE DID TO TYSON AND BUDDY IS WRONG AND THEY KNOW IT THATS WHY THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE THE NAMES OF THE POLICE THAT FIRED THE SHOTS WHEN ASKED FOR THE NAMES.

Prosecute the Fort Worth Police Officers that wrongly shot and killed Tyson and Buddy, and the officers that mistreated Tyson's body. THAT WAS RECORDED OF THE POLICE OFFICERS TAKING TURNS DOING THIS HORRENDOUS ACT TO TYSONS DECEASED BODY. The officers did not provide their names when asked nor did the police leave a contact card with a report number for the homeowner reporting the man with a gun on her property.

Thank you for your time,

Update #37 years ago
Tyson's preliminary necrosy report shows that he was shot while he was running AWAY from the cops that were shooting at him. I do not understand how a person can shoot an unarmed person/animal in the back. He was so scared running away form the cops trying to get back into the house where it was safe. Instead he was gunned down by the very people that are suppose to serve and protect us.

I've made the complaint to FWPD Internal Affairs with 2 witness statements of seeing the diatasteful actions of the officers mishandling Tysons body. I am also in the process of setting up a forensic necropsy to find out which direction he was shot.
Update #17 years ago
The surveillance footage was not lost!! I have it copied and tomorrow I'm going to find out about a forensic necropsy for strangulation. He was still alive when the police gathered around him and they had a dogcatchers pole with the loop on it. Then the footage got dark for some reason but I'm sure the right editing software will clear things up.
