Fairhope Citizens Against Airport Noise - Stop Dangerously Low Flying Airplanes

  • by: Michelle C.

The residents of Fairhope that live within the flight zone and beyond the H L Sonny Callahan Airport are very concerned about neighborhood safety, and insist that the FAA require pilots using the Airport to follow the federal regulations with regard to required minimum altitude.

For safety reasons, the law states that all aircraft must stay at least 1,000 ft. above residential neighborhoods except when necessary for takeoff and landing.

**The aircraft passing over the flight zone on the way to and from H L Sonny Callahan Airport are often no more than 400-600 ft. above ground level.**

The high level of noise pollution caused by these very low flying airplanes and helicopters are affecting many residents, but one of our biggest concerns is an accidental collision or engine failure directly over our homes or schools.

Please join us in demanding that H L Sonny Callahan Airport work with the pilots and the FAA to ensure that planes are operated in accordance with all current federal safety regulations. We welcome the people of Baldwin County as well as others, including safety concerned private pilots, to participate in order to stop dangerously low flying air craft.
