Save Rhinos From Slaughter: Stop Vietnamese Traffickers!

More rhinos were slaughtered last year than in any other year in history, nearly bringing them back to the brink of extinction.

Why? Because a new class of wealthy Vietnamese is using powder from rhino horns for their own medicinal means. They see the powder as a cure for anything from a hangover to cancer. Presently, the horns are so highly valued that their powder is worth more than street cocaine.

Ironically, if cut properly, rhino horns can grow back without causing the animals harm. Instead, they are left to die with hacked, bloody stumps. See the tragic evidence here:

The deadly methods promoted by Vietnamese traffickers are even less justified by frivolous uses, like one the AP cites of a 24-year-old downing the powder to ease an evening of heavy drinking.

Tell the Vietnamese government that it must crack down on rhino horn trafficking.

We, the undersigned, are horrified at the reports of rhino slaughters being supported by the Vietnamese population and apparently condoned, to some extent, by your government.

For the rhinoceros to survive on this planet for millions of years, dating back to the Miocene era, then to be barely brought back from the brink of extinction, just to be wiped out by frivolous greed would be beyond tragic.

It’s tragic enough that Vietnam has wiped out its own population of rhinos without it going after what’s left in Africa.

Man is this magnificent animal’s only predator and must now save it from complete extinction.

Therefore, you must not allow your government to continue turning a blind eye to these unnecessary slaughters and the illegal trafficking that is further endangering this species, especially just to satisfy selfish whims of your wealthy population.

We request that you crack down, at once, on Rhino trafficking, before it’s too late.
