NSA: Stop Being Bigoted

  • by: Kristi Arnold
  • recipient: NSA Director Michael S. Rogers Admiral U.S. Navy & Deputy Director Mr. Richard H. Ledgett, Jr.

The NSA is coming under fire for being racist and discriminating on religious grounds. The agency not only spied on the emails of prominent Muslim-Americans but also training manuals have been found that contain racial slurs including "Mohammed Raghead".

"In short, the government’s domestic counterterrorism policies treat entire minority communities as suspect, and American Muslims have borne the brunt of government suspicion, stigma and abuse," reads an open letter issued by a coalition that includes the ACLU, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Arab-American Institute, and dozens of others.

The surveillance even targets Muslim-Americans who have served their country in the military or government. This surveillance is based purely on religious bigotry and it's time to stop and apologize.

The White House instructed the NSA to review its training and policy materials. An official apology and more concrete action to end the bigotry is needed from the NSA.

Dear Sirs,

We the undersigned ask that you stop the bigotry at the NSA and apologize to Muslim-Americans for the NSA's prior actions.
