Keep Kern County Animal Control as a Joint Operation

KERN COUNTY RESIDENTS PLEASE HELP!

Save Kern County Animals!!  By continuing a jointly operated facility for animal control, we keep our pets in one location.  This saves time and money for both those looking for an animal and the agency running the facility.

We must ask the County Board of Supervisors and City Council to work jointly for the benefit of all its citizens, including our pets.  Should the County pursue its efforts of leasing a warehouse for animal control, we lose the opportunity to have a new state-of-the-art facility.  This would be a tragic result for all involved.  In fact, it would more likely create more difficulty in locating a lost pet.

Please sign this petition and attend the Board of Supervisors meeting on July 17 at 9:00 a.m. at 1115 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA to let them know how important this issue is to us.  You may also contact the board via clerkofboard@co.kern.ca.us.

To All County Supervisors,

We, the voting citizens of Kern County, believe that keeping Animal Control as a joint operation between the City and County is in the best interests of both the animals and the citizens of Kern County.  The County by pursuing the rental of a warehouse will cause the City to cease joint efforts in running animal control.  This is not cost effective to either the City or County.

We believe that the best option is to develop the plan proposed by the Citygate proposal of a one-stop, state-of-the-art facility that serves both the City and County.  A joint effort in this regard combines resources to save the taxpayers money and simplify the process of finding lost pets.
