Many people's diet is composed by eggs, milk, meat and cheese. Most individuals do not know that human beings are not anatomically capable of digesting these products properly. As a result, multiple diseases affect society and the environmental damage due to high costs of raising animals is drastic. In the U.S. alone:
-"Cow excrement have polluted over 35,000 miles of rivers in at least 22 states and contaminated groundwater in at least 17 state".
-"Dr. T. Colin Campbell, retired professor of Cornell University, discovered that 90-95% of pesticide (chemical) intake comes from meat, cheese, milk and eggs".
By eating consuming these products, we are affect our own health as well as animals and the environment. I am proposing a change in the dining services offered in our school cafeteria. This would provide students with healthier food options as well as contributing to a better environment protecting animals. The above are some of the few consequences from eating animal products. I think this initiative will primarily allow students and faculty members to consume healthier products and protect the environment from absurd amounts of waste and energy used to produce such products.
