Mandatory Corn Food Labeling

Developing allergies to corn is rapidly as corn is in many food products. Allergic symptoms of a corn allergy develop when a person’s immune system becomes sensitized and overreacts after eating corn or foods containing corn-based ingredients, or after being exposed to corn pollen. Corn and corn-derived products are used in many processed foods, as well as in many other everyday items.

These every day items contains ingredients that are not called corn, but still contains corn, such as asorbic acid which is in Cranberry Juice, malic acid, which is in EmergenC, natural flavors which is processed foods but also in other items such as butter and Cranberry Juice.

Therefore, we do not even know what contains corn and how much we truly consume corn. The other issue is the more we consume one ingredient like corn, the likelier our bodies develop an allergy to it.

When people discover they have an corn allergy, it is impossible to avoid it because of all the ingredients that contains corn and how many products contains just one of those ingredients.

We need to start knowing what truly is in the food we eat. Either tell us the product contains corn or start labeling them as corn free, just like we have now with labels like GMO free, Gluten Free, or others that say may contain nuts for those with allergies to nuts.
