Do Not Weaken Dodd Frank!

Dear President Obama,

I realize that passing a budget and avoiding another government shutdown must seem like a win. And it is a win, just not a win for America...not if it weakens Dodd Frank. It is rolling back the little bit of work that has been done to release the non-wealthy from the clutches of Wall Street. If you don’t sign then it will be your biggest win…your bravest win. It will be telling these guys that they have not quite won…that we will not give them America without a fight.

I know you think you will be hurting folks who cannot take being hurt. Well, I think that we are at a point where we can take a little pain. We realize that this train has to stop somewhere or there is going to be a train wreck, and we will be the casualties. It seems to me the choices are to hurt a little now or die later. Or, maybe it will be our children who die later. I for one would like to hurt a little now.

I don’t want to lose America as I have known it without a fight. That is the one thing I admire about the crazies in the Tea Party, they have fire in their gut. Well let me tell you something, I have a little fire in my gut as well. And, I believe you do as well. And, I think that just maybe even some in the Tea Party realize that we don’t want the reins on Wall Street loosened. If we don’t stop these folks now, then when, then who?

Send the message loud, clear, and truthfully that you will not sign anything that turns back the clock on the protections that are already in place. As if ridiculous tax protections are not enough, they also want an unfair playing ground. I think that a part of the problem is just as Elizabeth Warren has said, Dodd Frank did not go far enough; it should have torn these powerhouses apart. Well we can’t undo what was done in the past, but we can fix it going forward.

I’m a veteran. I didn’t serve my country for 20 years to have it handed over to a bunch of greedy, un-American, power-hungry, hate-filled rich folks. I am sure that is not what many of my comrades died for.

Some are focused on foreign affairs and terrorist attacks, but the biggest attack on America these days is coming from within our borders from Americans…not immigrants. It’s coming from men whose families who have been in America since the Mayflower and they are selling and buying America lock, stock and barrel!

Take a walk through Arlington cemetery, and ask yourself what those soldiers died for? And if you can still continue bargaining with these devils at the peril of our country, well …you surely will break my heart.
