Stop Destructive Website from Ruining Teenager's Lives!

Sayat.me is a website that allows anyone to create an account and receive 'honest' feedback about themselves from anyone around the world. The feedback is anonymous and there are no boundaries as to what people can say. A close friend of mine (not to mention thousands worldwide) received confidence-boosting compliments from people she knew, but through anonymous accounts rather than face to face or on genuine social media platforms as it should be - Soon after however, someone completely knocked her self esteem by calling her a 'spoiled brat' and 'bigheaded'. This goes to show how vulnerable young people (who are unaware of the consequences these sites can have) are made to be as a result of websites like this. Children's mental health can be put at risk, and although I'm sure the majority of people on the website have good intentions, young people start to rely on this support to feel good about themselves rather than being comfortable in their own skin. In addition to this, the fact that everything is anonymous drives teenagers to want to find out who say these horrible things, which only puts their safety at risk. Nothing good can come of this site and I strongly believe that it should be taken down no matter what people have to say about their rights to make an account. Whilst generally hateful remarks are not illegal, discrimination as a result of age, race, etc are, and this is something I do not doubt takes place on this platform. Anything that attracts this amount of uncontrollable hate (social medias such as Instagram and twitter at least have ways to report and block people in the wrong) should surely be considered a violation of British laws??

I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who has already signed this petition! A big part of any public journey is to make sure we have followers, & sometimes to do this we can't always rely on the host or the website itself. Therefore I ask you to share this petition with your friends (through social media or in person) - I appreciate every one of you for doing this & if we make even the smallest difference, I'll be extremely happy.
