My Name is Lexi I am nine years old and live in Nelson (New Zealand) and love Animals. Recently I have found out about Battery Farming and have studied it. I am home schooled with my younger sister and have eight lovely chickens that I am responsible for. I try to give them a great life because I love them dearly.I am writing this letter because I really hate Battery farming and I think people should know some things about it. The chickens are kept in 17x17cm cages stuffed with up to seven other chickens, half of the chickens beaks are cut off leaving their nerves painfully exposed, this is to stop them harming each other in the small amount of space they are allowed.Male chicks are put in a grinder when only a day old. Thousands of chickens die a year because of all the diseases and can't get up to eat or drink. After a year in the Battery Farm the chickens are packed up in crates and are sent to slaughter. Hundreds of Animals including pigs,cows,sheep and other Animals are in the Battery Farms today.Please help stop this for these beautiful harmless animals.
