Let's celebrate St. George's Day

So, while writing this, it is St. George’s day 2015. Oundle is indicative of the general (though not complete) national apathy shown towards England’s national day. Nothing has been organised for the town to celebrate the day.

In days gone past, up and down the country this very date would inspire parties, parades and celebrations aplenty. Nostalgia and politics aside, this tradition is lacking and I believe it should be reinstalled and where better than here in Oundle. Let’s get back to celebrating our national day.

We all live in such a diverse society, a society made stronger though such diversity. And here, in Oundle, we live in a beautiful, historic market town that typifies all that is good about our country in which this diversity exists. Others celebrate their national day, why should we let ours go by unmarked? Oundle is the perfect platform to encourage more countrywide displays of pride and rejoicing in England.

To that end, this petition. Shall we show OTC that the town would willingly partake in some sort of activity that the day deserves? A year, a whole year to get something in place and that starts with you signing up.
