Give The UK A Voice - There Needs To Be A Referendum On Our Membership In The EU!

Over the past few weeks we have been gathering evidence about how the problem has been affecting Britain locally and nationally, finding that more of our evidence proves that staying in the EU is more of a problem for Britain than a gain. This petition will make people in power see the reason to have a vote.

One of the problems encountered is immigration and the other negative results it can have such as putting strain on the NHS and affecting unemployment rates in the UK; The Sunday Telegraph, 13th October 2013 said “An EU study has found 600,000 unemployed migrants living in Britain.”
These unemployed immigrants are now living in the UK, therefore making them our responsibility to house them as well as provide benefits and jobs.
Also the immigrants who do find work are taking up jobs that should be going to British citizens. This is proved by an article from the Daily Mail where cabinet ministers quoted “In just five years between 2005 and 2010, for every British person who fell out of work, almost two foreign nationals gained employment,” a statement which is strengthened by a former MP who said “In 2005-2008 the numbers of Britons in jobs actually rose by 116,000… the numbers of migrants in work rose by 600,000.”
Furthermore, EU immigrants also expect benefits from the British Government; taking money which should really belong to British citizens who have to pay taxes. It is unfair that people have to pay higher taxes for EU immigrants who have never put any input into the country via taxes and think because they have entered our country should automatically be included with benefits and have access to facilities such as schools and the NHS.

Moreover, as criminals enter the UK, the crime rate increases putting local British citizens’ lives at risk as we are forced to accept asylum seekers and are unable to prevent people that could be potentially dangerous from countries in the EU, entering the UK. As a result of the EU we are not permitted to have selective border control that wold be preferred.

The EU also demand unacceptable paying fees for membership – up to £55 million each day. This extremely large amount of money could be spent on other things which are beneficial to the UK.

Additionally, EU laws automatically overrule British laws, giving the elected from member states nothing they can do to change a single piece of that law. It is not right that the UK, a country who has been democratic for hundreds of years are being told what to do by countries who have barely been a democracy for 20 years.
Should the EU really have influence in areas it should not, such as what kind of bananas we buy?

Some could argue that as our biggest trade partner, it is essential that the UK remains in the EU. However, the UK imports far more than it exports meaning that if EU countries were to try sanctioning the UK in trading terms, it would affect them more than it would Britain, making them unlikely to want to put an end to trading between countries.

Even if the UK does not leave the EU, as a result of the referendum the EU would be pressurized to make some changes that provide more benefits for the EU since the UK contributes a lot to the organization, particularly in the case that the vote to leave the EU is slightly higher than they would like. This is proven by the fairly recent vote when Scotland tried to gain independence from the UK. The voting line was extremely close; consequently Scotland has been given further privileges to keep them happy and a part of the UK.
It is our beliefs that Britain should be given the opportunity to vote about whether we should stay in the EU or not, rather than the decision be dictated by those in power without giving those in the general public (who should be able to vote) the chance to make a decision about what happens to our country involving the controversial EU arguments.
