Canadian Natural Resources Minister: Stop Insulting Climate Experts!

  • by: Brittany E.G.
  • recipient: Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver

The Natural Resources minister in Canada, Joe Oliver, is criticizing and insulting climate change experts, including Al Gore and NASA scientist James Hansen. This isn't just embarrassing; it could be downright threatening to Canada's environment.

NASA scientist James Hansen said that oilsands development in Canada is detrimental to the problem of climate change, which resulted in Oliver saying his argument was "nonsense" and that he should be "ashamed".

Similarly, Al Gore said that he is disappointed in Canada's environmental decisions, and that their oilsands are hurting Canada. Oliver responded by saying that Gore's statements were "inaccurate" and "exaggerated".

When will Oliver learn to quiet down and listen to the experts? It's not just his pride at stake -- it's Canada's environmental future.

Tell Minister Oliver to stop mocking respected leaders and support environmental initiatives instead!

Dear Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver,

Recently you have been making disrespectful comments about climate change experts such as NASA scientist James Hansen and Al Gore.

You said that Hansen's statements about the oilsands development in Canada being harmful were "nonsense" and that he should be "ashamed". For Gore, you said that his comments about the oilsands hurting Canada were "inaccurate" and "exaggerated".

Please stop mocking and insulting respected leaders, and instead support environmental changes.

Thank you for your time.
