Justice for Omar

Justice for Omar

Target:
Hon. Joseph S. Tate and Atty Jill Lawson

On July 2nd 2008, in Southwest Virginia, animal control officers responded to a complaint of a foul odor coming from Mr Tyrell Suggs apartment. Upon investigation of Mr Suggs apartment his 3 year old male doberman pincher, named Omar was found dead inside of a closet, left with out food and water for weeks. Ironically enough, Omar was left in the apartment alone because Mr Suggs had been arrested and taken to jail. However, Mr Suggs had numberous opportunities  to make other arrangements for Omar. He could had informed the arresting officer that his dog was in the closet,  he could have told a neighbor in his apartment complex and asked them to care for Omar,he could have notified a family member  that Omar was there and asked them to care for him. He could have even  informed correctional officers about Omar. He could have even contacted us as our rescue is less than 5 miles from Mr Suggs home, we would have gladly taken him in.  Instead he chose to leave him there in a dark closet with no food, no water, forced to lay in his own waste with no way to escape. Death for this poor soul must have been a relief. I received the photo of Omar from his original owner who could not keep him and wanted to do right by him and rehomed him. Sadly, that gentleman rehomed him, ultimately he ended up in the hands of Tyrell Suggs. Omar's original owner was notified of what happened to Omar because she had him mirco chipped. She is heartbroken over what has happened to Omar. Omar is the black doberman in the picture  watching the other one play.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask that the court punish Mr Suggs to the full extent that the law will allow. We also ask that the court take into consideration the suffering that Omar endured in the days and weeks that led up to his death and order that Mr. Suggs be banned from owning  animals in the future. Lastly, we ask that the court punish Mr Suggs to the full extent that the law will allow because there is a direct correlation between animal abuse and other crimes. People that abuse animals very seldom stop there.

If there were any justice in this world, this dogs owner would face the same treatment the dog got.

Animals can not help themselves. If you have one you need to take care of it or give it to someone that will. God give us them to enjoy not destroy! I hope this man does get what he deserves.

I hope this worthless human gets cancer and dies a slow and horrible death just to see how it feels like to die of starvation-or better yet, I hope this human piece of excrement gets AIDS in jail! People like this are the most disgusting loathesome crawling worthless animals-worst than animals-for their cruelty is deliberate and with full awareness making it the most dispicable evil.

Its time for people to be held accountable for their actions concerning the lives of non-human animals. What if this had been a small child? There shouldn't be any difference in the way its handled. Unacceptable!

It is imperative that the law be enforced to the fullest extent in such a brutal case of neglect and abuse. I cannot allow myself to imagine the suffering this dog went through. THe court must take seriously the risk this poses not just to the animals but to humans if this callousness is not adequately punished.

Confirmed by Police Officer Dabel who says in the recent SF Chronicle article "Kitten Killer Faces 16 Months In Prison" (link below) that police take animal abuse cases especially seriously in part because those who are willing to abuse animals "time and time again have shown a track record of committing violence against family members or others. "You've got to get right on it because it can be the tip of the iceberg."" http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/12/12/BA5R14MUK1.DTL&hw=16+months+prison+for+cat&sn=001&sc=1000

Animal cruelty should not be tolerated. I believe Suggs, who does not deserve to be called Mr.,should know and experience the pain and suffering that Omar had to go through.

I think this is extremely sick man and he needs punishment & justice to the full extent. People thinks dogs & cats are "just animals", this is not true, they depend on their caregivers to live. If you decide to adopt a pet, you should care for them as you would want to be cared for.

This guy should go to jail. Let all ofthe other inmates that he is guilty of starving a dog to death in a closet. When released he should have community service for a year of cleaning the cages at the shelter. And he should have to wear a sign that said " I am a dog killer. I let my dog starve to death. And he should never be allowed to own another pet. He is a sad person.

This is so disgusting. I can't even stand it. I wish there was harser punishment for letting another being of any kind die. I hope this guy has trouble sleeping at night and I hope his ass has a lot longer to sit in jail and think about it. I also hope that there is no way this asshole can have children (who knows if he would leave them in a closet without food or water) and that he can never have another dog. It's people like this that we should neuter without asking. Let's just castrate his ass so we don't ever have to worry about this fricken idiot reproducing and putting more people out there that just don't care. If you know what's good for our planet and daily lives you will lock this guy up for as long as we can!

Put him in solitary for a month or more with no food, no water, and let the guy feel what the dog felt dying a slow dehydrating death. No excuse for this. He could have told someone, but obviously locked the dog in the closet knowingly, just plain stupid and mean. Throw away the key.

This is absolutely disgusting!!!! How can people do that to a poor, innocent animal. He should not be allowed to have another pet--ever. Give him the maximum sentence possible. This should never happen again.

I was very disturbed to find out that a dog that I had grown to loved was done so horriably. I owned Omar for a short time and only took him back to that farm because I had very small grandchildren and he was so big. I cried so hard the day I took him back. It wasnt that I thought that he would hurt them intentionaly (he was a sweetheart) but just because he was so big. I now wish I had never took him back cause once again I am shedding tears for Omar. I hope this man will be punished severly. All he had to do was tell someone that he was there. I would have gladly took him back. Omar was truley one of a kind and will be missed by me and my family.

same fate should be the punishment for the person who starved this dog lock them up with no food or water see if they like it. I am sick of the abuse of the innocent. What is wrong with people? There needs to be stiffer penalties and this needs to stop.

This is a very sad ending for such a beautiful dog. Omar did not deserve to die this way. Suggs must face court and justice and punishment must be as severe as to what he did to Omar, a defenseless dog who did not deserve to die this way. It is a pity that this world has people like Suggs and others who can care less about the animals.

Anyone who deliberately leaves an animal to die such a horrible death should be punished. Laws exist to punish people for animal cruelty and neglect--USE THEM.
