Please sign and share petition to demand that airport workers in the Washington area be paid the same minimum wage increase as those in SeaTac hotels, rental car agencies and parking lots.
A wage increase was voted in for workers in SeaTac hotels, rental car agencies and air port parking lots yet it has been ruled that other airport workers do not deserve the same type of pay increase. This is a voter-approved decision to increase the hourly wage for travel and hospitality workers in the Seattle suburb of Olympia, WA and SeaTac, but shouldn’t it apply to all travel, including airport workers?
The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is part of a separate government entity although their employees are an important aspect in the service they provide travelers. Those affected, that have not received their deserving wage increase, say that they will appeal this poor decision directly to the Washington state Supreme Court.
With the recent ruling, it states that the pay increase in question does not apply to more than 4,700 airport workers as it does for those in the SeaTac hotels, rental car agencies and airport parking lots. This new law exempts small firms, unionized workforces and airline workers. This is absolutely ridiculous!! Those voting against the pay increase for airline workers claim that these employees should be able to support their families without the increase; do these same people live on minimum wage?
Airline workers in Washington deserve fair pay and benefits comparable to other employees in the hospitality and travel industry. These people need our help and support. Washington State Supreme Court and SeaTac – You need to enforce better laws that allows for the same wage increases for all workers within the hospitality and travel industry. It is unfair to allow for these increases for only the SeaTac hotels, car rentals and parking lots, excluding the many other vital workers in the airline industry. Implement the same pay increases for all airport workers.
