Ontario: Support Reconciliation and Remove John A MacDonald's Name From Schools

The trauma from Canada's legacy of residential schools is still very present in the lives of Indigenous peoples across the country. One of the key players in the making residential schools more brutal was none other than the first Prime Minister of Canada, John A MacDonald.

As Canadians learn of the atrocities committed at these schools they are working to find ways to honour the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's recommendations and make a safer place for Indigenous peoples.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario has called on the province to make a major move in reconciliation and remove John A MacDonald's name from schools across the province, to make them more accessible for Indigenous youth.

However, the province is fighting back. Your voice is needed to let Premier Wynne know that this important step is essential in supporting Indigenous youth and their education in the province.

Sign today to support reconciliation and call for the removal of John A MacDonald's name from Ontario schools.
