End Verizon Wireless Mobile Contracts

  • You know that two year contract with your mobile carrier you hate? This petition is aimed to end having to be locked into one, specifically with Verizon.
  • Recently T-Mobile announced their "Un-Carrier" initiative, which basically ended contracts on their network, meaning you can leave any time you want with no strings attatched.
  • So what make me think Verizon will do the same?

-Verizons CEO has showed a large amount of interest lately following T-Mobile's example, but they want to make sure customers approve. This petetion is aimed at showing him that customers dont want to be locked into contracts anymore.

  •  Why should mobile contracts end?

-The first reason, you would have more freedom. You would be able to leave the carrier anytime you like without having to pay an ETF(Early Termination Fee).
-Depending on what restrictions carriers have on their wireless technology, you would be able to buy unlocked devices for the network with no problem.

-Along with that, this would end carrier subsidies. Meaning end to upgrade prices. While you may be weary of this at first, there are few things to take into consideration. Under T-Mobile's new plan you pay a certain price upfront and then you pay the rest of the amount over the life of your phone. So say you want the Galaxy S3. You would pay $70 down and then $20 every month for two years.
-This means that if you decide you want to upgrade to a new device, all you have to do is finish paying off your current device and then buy the new one, or you trade in the device you havent finished paying off, for credit toward a new device.

-This also means that the device you pay for is yours. Carriers current mentality is that that when you buy a device, you dont own it. They have a good reason to have that mentalily, because they actually pay full price to buy it from the manufacturers and sell it to you for a cheaper price. But as I said before, without a contract, you would be paying for the device, which means its yours.

  • If you agree with what I have listed, please sign this petetion to stop Verizon from bullying us around, and to end mobile contracts.
