Save Louisiana Landscape; Fight Climate Change That Causes Sea Levels to Rise

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to ask Louisiana Environmentalists and the Climate Central Organization to take further steps to protect New Orleans from the rising sea levels as per the Global Positioning System (GPS). Without intervention from officials, much of the Louisiana landscaping will be lost. Please pass this information on worldwide so we can get some help to save these sea coasts.

Just in the last 3 years, 30 points of New Orleans has literally been erased from the map due to the sea levels on the rise.  Much of the problem is due to climate change, although scientists continue to work to preserve our environment.  However, in the New Orleans area, Sugarcane fields, citrus groves, backwoods are all gone. We can read the full report on this issue, highlighting the huge issues facing the Louisiana area, needing help from authorities - http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/oct/14/lost-louisiana-the-race-to-reclaim-vanished-land-back-from-the-sea.

Authorities state that they are working on a plan to turn back the seas, and get BP to pay a substantial share of the $50bn (£31bn) cost out of criminal penalties from the blowout of its well in the Gulf of Mexico.   Additionally, the plan includes proposals for more than 100 engineering projects along the coastline, diverting the Mississippi, dumping fresh sand on barrier islands, and re-planting degraded wetlands to reinforce the coast. The state’s computer forecast shows that, if all the projects come in on time, by 2060 Louisiana could start regaining land.  We need to also have the plan include looking into climate change, which is a contributing factor in the continual sea levels rising.

An organization known as the National Coastal Zone Management Program does just that; the work  coastal states and territories to address some of today’s most pressing coastal issues, including climate change, ocean planning, and planning for energy facilities and development. Authorities in New Orleans need to look into further options and save their coasts before the land completely disappears.

U.S. Climate Central, Louisiana Environmentalists, National Coastal Zone Management Organization - You currently are working on a plan to turn back the seas, and get BP to pay a substantial share of the $50bn (£31bn) cost out of criminal penalties from the blowout of its well in the Gulf of Mexico.   Additionally, your plan includes proposals for more than 100 engineering projects along the coastline, diverting the Mississippi, dumping fresh sand on barrier islands, and re-planting degraded wetlands to reinforce the coast. The state’s computer forecast shows that, if all the projects come in on time, by 2060 Louisiana could start regaining land.  However you need to also work in resolving climate issues by working closely with the Nation Coastal Zone Management Organization who specializes in such issues.  Please quick and immediate steps in preserving the beautiful coastal lines of New Orleans before the entire areas are below sea level.
