Keep fireworks quiet! For the sake of all our animals.

A great many animals, both domestic and wild, suffer and are killed needlessly every year due to fireworks and their misuse.   This can be because they are so terrified by the sound of them that they run blindly into the path of danger, either onto roads, railways tracks or into lakes and ponds.  They can also be killed by the deliberate and malicious use of fireworks against them, in cruel acts by cruel people.   Fireworks, in the wrong hands, are a torturous lethal weapon and even in the right hands, cause death by misadventure.

My own beautiful dog was killed by a car after bolting in terror at the sound of a nearby firework.  This did not happen on the evening of the 5th November, when we all know to keep our dogs locked in,  but on a sunny Sunday afternoon.   We cannot keep our animals locked up all year round.   Fireworks can go off at anytime, anywhere.   We have no warning and cannot take the necessary precautions to keep our animals safe.   This is why I propose that fireworks should either be banned, or at least be silent.  Surely the visual impact  should be enough.  It seems like a good compromise.

Stop the needless deaths of our innocent companions - vote to keep fireworks quiet.
